  • I had a great experience with Superior Transmissions.  

    I was having trouble with my car, which the dealership told me would require a whole new transmission (quoted me $4k).  After hearing that I was considering just scrapping my car.  That is until I talked to Barry.  I talked to Barry on the phone and described the problem and what the dealership told me.  After that he told me I probably didn't need a whole new transmission like the dealership said.  What, you aren't going to suggest the same thing and just ask for less money?  Great!  Honesty is by far the best quality to have in a mechanic, and I couldn't more thankful for the honesty demonstrated at Superior Transmissions.

    To make a long story short, I had them take a look at my car and they quoted me a "not to exceed" quote of $2200.  Not a cheap fix, but a hell of a lot cheaper than $4k!  A couple months later and my car is still running like a champ.

    Highly recommended for any and all transmission services.

  • Superior Transmissions just had a great feel from the first phone call.  Barry, owner and primary office personel, is just about as honest and forthright as they come, and definitely won't "provide you" with services you just don't need.

    This family owned and run service station only repairs or replaces issues directing related to the transmission.  They are specialists, and certainly have a repoire with the Silver Spring people, and beyond.  They are never hurting for business, but always seem to be able to fit you in.  

    Took my car in to get looked at for what I thought was a hesitance in the acceleration involving the transmission.  Barry himself test drove the car to see if he could feel what I was worried about.  Turns out that wasn't a problem, he thought, but my engine mounts were basically done for.  My engine was leaping out from under my hood, practically.  He gave me a reasonable price quote for labor and parts.  

    Within a few days, Barry had ordered the specialty mounts for my mitsubishi lancer 2002 and my car was back in for service.  What he had quoted at being about an hour of work ended up taking his crew nearly all day.  What did I pay for?  An hour of labor.  Again, honest to a fault, this man.

    This is a place that will really take care of your car, and really look out for you - the customer.  Highly recommend.  Not to mention, I call Barry for a recommendation for all things auto.  From where to get an oil change to where he'd send me for a car alarm repair, I figure, if he's that honest, surely he only recommends people who are equally trustworthy.  So far, I believe that's turned out to be true.
